Heavenly Bodies: Kristin-Lee Moolman captures fashion’s new faces

Photographer Kristin-Lee Moolman and stylist Zara Mirkin get weightless for the fourth cover of the Baddie issue, transporting us into another ethereal dimension

For the fifth cover of the Baddie Issue – a celebration of the electrifying energy and strength embodied by some of today’s bravest and boldest women – photographer Kristin-Lee Moolman and stylist Zara Mirkin see the light, teaming up with Jordan Brand for a special, ethereal editorial: Heavenly Bodies. Transporting readers to a new, weightless dimension, the shoot spotlights next-gen supermodel Ponahalo Mojapelo on the cover, and sees them posing in iconic Jordan brand designs and a pair of dark, feathered angel wings.

Elsewhere in the editorial, a line-up of some of fashion’s newest faces are lensed across a series of foggy, dystopian locations – from standing on top of run-down vans to posing in front of tyre shops, on stripey hotel room bedsheets, and in dried-out fields – each provides a fresh take on heavenly landscapes. Following suit, each model is adorned with a different pair of wings, some crafted more traditionally from feathers, while others come shaped from cut-up paper plates, leaves and branches, shredded fabrics, $100 bills, and folded-up Jordan Brand t-shirts – each reinventing angel wings as sculptural pieces of art.

Beneath the wings, each look comes together with iconic pieces from Jordan Brand’s 2023 Winter collection – from its Diamond Shorts in white and red, adding dimension to a monochromatic Jordan Brand look via its signature stripe, to its Wings jacket, zipped-up and paired with unlaced Jordan trainers and loose joggers; a puffer jacket highlighted with Jordan’s historic “Jumpman” emblem and styled with nothing underneath; and basketball shorts stacked up to create long, flowing silhouettes. Elsewhere, green graphic hoodies come paired with sleek, sporty skirts and leggings or tacked with neckties.

Transcending both fashion and sport, each image conveys the divine strength and bravery within today’s generation of women. See more from the Baddie issue here.
